Main Street Projects

A primary goal of Boonton Main Street, Inc. is to attract more people to shop, eat, work, and play downtown. To make that happen, we sponsor a number of programs and events throughout the year.
This listing represents a few of our current, upcoming, or ongoing projects:

Website
The Organization committee will be working closely with a consultant from Main Street NJ to redesign our website. Our new site will be more user- friendly and help the Main Street Businesses with links to their websites or providing web pages for those that do not have sites; also planned is a job opportunity page and space available page to further assist the business owners and property owners within the downtown district.

Business Retention and Recruitment
The Economic Revitalization Committee has been working behind the scenes to develop a business recruitment package, while providing quarterly training seminars to existing businesses.

Parking and Traffic Issues
For decades, retailers and shoppers have listed "parking" as the number one problem for downtown Boonton. The Design Committee volunteers will be meeting with Town, County and State Organizations to find ways to make Main Street safer for pedestrian traffic. We are always looking for ways to increase the number of convenient parking spaces in our downtown.

Street Lighting
The volunteers at Boonton Main Street, Inc. and Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce will be working on a plan to increase lighting on Main Street. The multi-year plan hopes to include increased street lighting, building or faÁade lighting and holiday lighting.

Farmers' Market
During the summer of 2004, Boonton Main Street launched Boonton's first-ever Farmers' Market. 2010 will mark its seventh year. We will be open again this summer, 8:30 a.m. every Saturday, beginning June 12th.

Special Events
Boonton Main Street hosts a number of special events throughout the year, to increase pedestrian and shopper traffic downtown and to help make downtown a vibrant, fun, safe place to be. Among the many events are a Classic Car Show scheduled for August, the Howl-O-Ween dog parade and costume contest, and a Victorian Holiday promotion.
